Gigabeat F40 - backlight has become detached. Can it be fixed?
(1/1)
StsIkel:
I dropped the thing trying to catch a train >:( it predictably exploded, with buttons and casing flying everywhere.
However, when I pieced it back together and hit play the music started up again! Looking carefully at the screen the backlight seems to be the only thing not working, so I wonder if it got detached when I dropped it. It's definitely the hardware and not Rockbox/OF, as the backlight won't come on during boot either.
If it is detached, which bit do I need to reattach? Some annotated PCB scans would be very helpful but I'd settle for instructions ;)
If it's not repairable then I fear my 3 year romance of rockbox is over for an ipod Classic and some transcoded Oggs... but on the upside a dev can have my F40 for a nominal fee.
Mad Cow:
Open it up and check the connector for the screen. Make sure it's plugged in fully. If it doesn't work you might be able to pick up a screen for pretty cheap if you look.
