Sansa e280 with 2 gbyte MicroSD - No MUSIC directory

(1/1)

Shoka:
New Sansa e280 with 2 gb microCD flash plug in.
Rockbox latest download installed. Access working from Ubuntu with original firmware. When mounted as a device I can access both the main flash and the MicroCD plug in as two  separate discs.

Have loaded .ogg files into both the MUSIC folder and the CF. I can see the music directory and the files when attached to the Ubuntu box When running RockBox freestanding a microCD  directory only is visible on the files menu, no MUSIC directory. The files loaded to the MicroCD are visible to the player. No directory "Music" or "MUSIC"  available nor any sign of the files in the main player.

Things I messed with:

I cleared the various demo files out of the MUSIC PHOTO and VIDEO directories as I want the space for music. I can still see the PHOTO RECORD tmp and VIDEO directories, only MUSIC went missing.

When the MUSIC directory went missing  I've tried renameing the MUSIC directory to Music from the Ubuntu host. The renaming seems ok and is preserved when I reconnect to the Ubuntu box. Generally poked about. Rebooted with the MicroCD  out, still no music directory.

How is the contents of the files directory defined? I assume this is a FAT file system, is there a max number of files or such limit, I've put about 6 gigs of music files onto the box. Puzzl;ed...

Thanks for the good work, the Sansa port is still  flaky in lots of small ways but its at least usable. Though I'm getting a bit tired of the choice on the MicroCD

I had to run sansapatcher from a windows box, I could not get any Linux version to work on Ubuntu. Oh the shame of it...

Cheers Harry

Llorean:
Change the file view setting to "All" rather than supported. The music folder is automatically hidden by the Sansa's firmware, and Rockbox hides hidden files except when in the "All" file view mode. How to change what view mode you're in is described in the manual.

What "choice on MicroSD" are you talking about?

Shoka:
Thanks I'll try that.

Sorry, the flip comment was because I can see and play the files saved to the MicroSD drive, though not to the main system itself. This is a presently a rather small selection, and I'm getting fed up with it. :(

Shoka:
Thats the fix indeed. Thanks Harry
