Rhapsody Channels still work after Rockbox install??

<< < (6/6)

santod:
Ok, so back to my question, I was saying firmware and I meant Bootloader. The original bootloader is modified in order to allow Rockbox Firmware to install. Can this modified bootloader be reversed? Or uninstalled? Anyone?

Bagder:
Yes, all parts of the rockbox install/modifications can be reversed.

santod:
Is there a seperate process needed to undo modified bootloader on Sansa R series or just run the uninstall.bat and everything will be reversed including the security fix done to the bootloader? Anything I should do to backup original Bootloader before attempting install as described for R series players? Does the process of removing security key from R series bootloader essentially make it a non R series player, crippling Rhapsody functionality? Also, thank you, Badger, for just simply answering my question.

Bagder:
The undoing is a separate process, yes, as it will require you to boot into manufacture mode, "recover" to the vanilla bootloader and then installing the original Rhapsody bootloader (which then will refuse to load the rockbox bootloader).

However, "removing security key" is not at all an accurate description of what the patched bootloader is. The patched bootloader simply have the DSA digital key verification somewhat broken so that the bootloader can be forced to boot mi4 images with a particular "magic" signature and not being forced to be truly digitally signed.

I honestly can't think of any good reason to ever remove the patched bootloader since you will not suffer from any bad effects from it.

John Brown:
ok i think i can help you to check to see if rhapsody channels can still work with your device ;D because i'm tring to get rockbox on my device and im still on my one month (it's been three months now).
