Please don't double or even triple post, use the modify button.

Do you see what I mean now?  We allow you to boot either, but both are completely independant.

so essentially it shouldn't effect Rhapsody Channels or DRM?

That is what I said in the fourth post of this thread, but we don't know for sure because no-one has tried it.

1) Read the posting guidelines. Consider this your only warning, you're expected to follow them here.

2) "Shouldn't" and "Doesn't" are two different things. It's not expected to, but nobody has tested yet and reported back, as you were told at the beginning of this thread.

I modified my last post and that's not my way. I have something new to say, it belongs in a new post.

"That is what I said in the fourth post of this thread, but we don't know for sure because no-one has tried it."

How else would we know if anyone has tried it unless I post somewhere and ask??

Sorry to have looked for answers to my questions in your forum here. Apparently you are more concerned with hacking hardware and software for the challenge then you are for helping others to utilize and appreciate all of your hard work and efforts to get such an awesome program running on so many platforms. I congratulate you in your efforts and never meant to piss off people. Didn't realize that the few people that were on here right now would jump me. I guess I'll not try the Rockbox after all.(as if you care). What a shame, seemed like a great thing, but I would hope for a little better support and not being jumped on for asking questions.

1) "Your way" does not matter. You agreed to follow the rules, so follow them. If nobody has posted since your last post modify. Otherwise, post a new post.

2) Do you not realize EVERYONE here is someone who was interested in having their MP3 player do something new. Nobody jumped on you for asking the question. Nobody jumped on you at all until you broke forum rules. We just attempted to explain to an unwilling listener how the software worked.

How do you expect someone to give you an answer to a question that nobody has found the answer to, honestly? You clearly refuse to test it. Who exactly is supposed to test it? Someone who doesn't own the player, like me, or someone who does, like you?

You have no right being offended when someone suggests you test it yourself, because everything, ever, done in Rockbox happened because someone with the player did it themselves.

I am not refusing to listen or to do anything myself, you don't know me or what I can and/or will do. I was merely trying to ask on a public forum if anyone HAS tried this and can confirm whether it worked for them or not. Not a crime and if we don't share our experiences then we are only limiting what we can learn.

Am I wrong in thinking this is an open forum for public discussion? Is this just for the public to ask Rockbox for tech help?

You refused to accept when you were told that Rockbox is a replacement firmware, and does not work by modifying the original firmware, which seemed an awful lot like "refusing to listen" when you have two people telling you how it works, and you refused to accept it.

Anyway, simply put: Until someone actually tests this, there's no way to know whether Channels will work, and nobody has yet reported on these forums that they've tested it. As I said earlier.

Right, but very early on I said rockbox shouldn't make any difference to rhapsody in the OF but nobody had tried it.  We then tried to clear up some confusion on what rockbox was, at which point you said, so rockbox shouldn't affect rhapsody in the OF - a question I had already answered.  Then there was a diagreement about whether posting guidelines applied to you, and here we are.

Ok, so back to my question, I was saying firmware and I meant Bootloader. The original bootloader is modified in order to allow Rockbox Firmware to install. Can this modified bootloader be reversed? Or uninstalled? Anyone?

Yes, all parts of the rockbox install/modifications can be reversed.

Is there a seperate process needed to undo modified bootloader on Sansa R series or just run the uninstall.bat and everything will be reversed including the security fix done to the bootloader? Anything I should do to backup original Bootloader before attempting install as described for R series players? Does the process of removing security key from R series bootloader essentially make it a non R series player, crippling Rhapsody functionality? Also, thank you, Badger, for just simply answering my question.

The undoing is a separate process, yes, as it will require you to boot into manufacture mode, "recover" to the vanilla bootloader and then installing the original Rhapsody bootloader (which then will refuse to load the rockbox bootloader).

However, "removing security key" is not at all an accurate description of what the patched bootloader is. The patched bootloader simply have the DSA digital key verification somewhat broken so that the bootloader can be forced to boot mi4 images with a particular "magic" signature and not being forced to be truly digitally signed.

I honestly can't think of any good reason to ever remove the patched bootloader since you will not suffer from any bad effects from it.
