sansa e200 charging behavior
« on: October 09, 2007, 06:40:39 PM »
hi,

i just wanted to share what i just found out...
as you all know, after you change something on the partition the OF makes an database update.
so the next time you charge your e200 with the OF it will do an update and then it switches to the menu... without mounting (even in MTC mode).

what i just found out is that in this situation it won't register itself as an usb device and so will charge really slow.. even though the battery indicator tells something different. (at least with linux - lsusb gives info about connected usb devices)

so, don't forget to unplug and replug the cable after database update is finished.

Please don't post static information like this in the forums. Put it in the Wiki - where it belongs.

Is this true? I haven't checked, but I read on some other forum people deliberately using the database refresh time to get the charging faster - the idea being that if the sansa isn't mounted the backlight isn't on all the time so there's more current available for charging.
