H3xx ruined?!? Ideas anyone?
(1/1)
LoisBushes:
Hello,
I'm a big fan of rockbox and the misticriver foruns, and until 2 months ago, a proud owner of a iriver H320.
Following the trend of most iriver users who own a iriver for about 2 years, the battery on mine went dead.
So ,I went and replaced it with a new one, from ebay. That didn't go too well, and after a set of events, the unit
went dead, the harddrive didn't budge.
After some experimentation, and struggling to keep it working, I managed to conclude that the unit is still working, but
the motherboard may somehow be ruined, because the hardrive does not start.
I've got rockbox, and the hardrive is not damaged,
(I don't know how, because after what I've done to it, I would not expect it to be functioning, but after purchasing an adapter
all the content was still there).
I can't charge the battery through the power socket, neither access the disk through the USB port, as a matter of fact, the computer doesn't
even detect the unit's presence.
The harddrive doesn't boot, and the dreadfull "ATA error -11" appear, I think the problem may be in the chip that controls the USB OTG
or in the power of the unit, or simply, on some fuse that powers the harddrive, because, I can not detect any power on the disk pinout
from the H320 motherboard.
Now, I've tried to supply outside power to the haddrive while it was connected to the h320 motherboard, to see if the problem was only
from the power supply, but no luck,
I think the problem has to do with some chip that bridges the harddrive with the logic in the CPU.
I'm all set to buy a new one, just wanted to share the experience...
Any ideias? Similar experiences?
Does anyone have the circuit schematics to this unit?
Thank You!
Lois

I think the best thing to do would be to look for another board on the misticriver forums.
