« on: October 07, 2007, 08:01:13 PM »
i have been reading horror stories about how people completely screwed up their ipods installing rockbox on it. I have an ipod video 30gb and i want to confirm what i am supposed to do. Please tell me if the following sequence in correct. Thank you.

1)connect ipod

2) run ipodpatcher.exe and then press "i" and then enter

3)extract rockbox folder directly to ipod

4) unplug ipod and enjoy rockbox?Huh

is this correct or am i retarded??

thank you sooo much

Yes, it's that simple.

You probably also want to install the files under the "Extras" link in the menu on the left of this website, and themes from http://www.rockbox-themes.org

1. We have a nice manual describing the exact procedure. Please read it first as the forum guidelines require you to do so.
2. I really don't know about what "horror" stories you read about but Ipods are almost unbrickable -- there's always a way to fix it.
3. your instructions miss 3b) reboot the Ipod. The manual holds this information ...

And we have an even easier way by using Rockbox Utility which is still in development but already works really nice for most users.
