OK, I'll see about the youtube vid. You're right, that would be good.
Hmmm, I'm not sure about your problem, though. Could you describe more in depth what you have done and/or are doing?

i followed all directions right up to the command prompt part.  I unzipped my files in a folder i made called e200tool.  I put that folder in my windows folder (C:WINDOWS\e200tool).  Then i typed this in the prompt, "cd c:\windows\e200tool".  when i hit enter, the line looked like this in the beginning, "C:\WINDOWS\e200tool>".  Then i typed in "e200tool recover BL_SD_boardSupportSD.rom" and hit enter.  When i did that this appeared:

C:\WINDOWS\e200tool>e200tool recover BL_SD_boardSupportSD.rom
e200tool v0.2.3-alpha (c) by MrH 2006, 2007
Searching for device 0781:0720 ... found!
Initializing USB stub (4780 bytes) ...
Bulk write error (-22, Invalid argument)

and that's how far i got so far.

You know, it sounds weird, but for me, this only worked on one of my two USB ports. I suggest trying different ports to see if that makes a difference.

" cd" c:\e200tool_dir what is the cd part for?
Now, execute e200tool recover BL_SD_boardSupportSD.rom (you mean press enter right?)
For the commant prompt thing I think you need to go more in dept on exactly what should be done because this is comfusing people. ???

OK, if people do not know what the command prompt is and how to execute something, they should NOT be performing these steps. Please read my warning on the page.

Then i guess i'll be looking forward to the video you make.  Oh, and i don't know if the comment was directed at me but i know what a command prompt is and how to use it.

Well, for the bulk write error, all I can suggest is wait and try again later. It did that to me once, and I think Llorean had problems too. The only fix is to keep trying because no one knows why that error occurs.

EDIT: Yeah, the directions here (http://chrisjs.com/?page_id=57) for Linux say almost the same thing. Just a USB error. There's no fix, just have to wait a bit and try again. But, if you can, I really suggest doing this from Linux. It's much easier.

Well, i've been trying for a while and i got a new error.  Maybe you know what it means.

C:\>e200tool recover BL_SD_boardSupportSD.rom
e200tool v0.2.3-alpha (c) by MrH 2006, 2007
Searching for device 0781:0720 ... found!
Initializing USB stub (4780 bytes) ...
Length write error (-5, Input/Output error)

last time it was a bulk write error but now it's length write.  Maybe you know what this input/output error is?

I wish I knew. I didn't code e200tool. I just compiled it for Windows and got the drivers working. Something is messing up with the USB data transfer. That's all I can tell you. And, I'm not sure if there's a fix for this. You could try asking on the IRC.

You have the code and you can read up on libusb. There's nothing magic that someone knows or hides.

I am able to boot Rockbox on my player, but not the original firmware.  I get a black screen and the blue thumbwheel stays lit.  I shut it down and put it in recovery mode.  I then placed an original pp5022.mi4 file in the root directory and rebooted.  It now boots the original firmware, but not Rockbox (expected that though).  Do I need to reinstall the bootloader? I have read of people doing this, but it was for the e200 (non r model).  I'm not sure if the bootloader is the issue or it's something else.  I'd rather not reinstall the bootloader if I don't need to.  Thanks in advance for any help provided.
