Vista and Rhapsody Windows Rockbox Install?
zajacattack:
Yeah, Linux is definitely easier. It took me hours to figure out how to do it in Windows (I wrote the wiki article on Windows). I made the drivers in XP, so they won't work in Vista. Plus, libusb support on Vista is very poor (a quick search showed that the filter driver messes up people's USB ports on Vista).
MBaller20:
can those instructions for bootloader patching on windows harm my os in any way if i mess up?
Downsider:
This just in:
Okay, I tried it on XP, and same thing... But, after CORRECTLY booting into manufaturing mode, it worked lol. Silly insturctions didn't say to use the hold switch, but I remembered it from my previous endevors on Sansa hacking :P
zajacattack:
Sorry, fixed that in the wiki now (thanks for the heads up). Yes, if not done properly this has the potential to mess up your USB drivers and/or Sansa. Read the warning at the top of the wiki page.
Also, Downsizer, does this mean you have successfully put Rockbox on your e200R with Windows XP via my instructions? If so, that is a good sign, it means I wasn't the only one to get Rockbox with Windows, and it will help push us toward an easier Windows method.
Downsider:
When I (and you) posted that, I didn't finish it yet.
I read your answer, and I posted this as soon as I finished.
I'm extremly pleased to tell you that it worked 100% correctly, even though there were a few hitches here and there, but I was fairly confident of my computer skills and much.
If you'd like, I can post what the "minor hitches" were.
I am extremly pleased with your work, and it wasn't that hard either, I think its basic enough to keep with those instructions.
