Problem with language settings
« on: October 07, 2007, 09:38:54 PM »
Hi Folks!

I have installed Rockbox on my Nano 1st gen.
I had an older build like 13395 070515 and tried to update.
It won´t work, so I "downgraded" the whole thing back to 13395. Everything is fine right now,
despite the fact, that I can´t change the language anymore. No matter, what lang I choose,
it won´t work. can someone help me, pls? All files are there and the cfg is correct.

Regards

If you want help, please update to a current build - we cannot know whether there was a bug that's already been fixed in the meantime in such an old build for example. This is explained in the posting guidelines you agreed on when registering in the forums.

If you have trouble with the current build not running correctly, please state exactly what happens (or not) - we might be able to help you get it running. Simply stating the above won't get you any further and your build will get more and more outdated.

P.S. And that's probably in the wrong part of the forums...

Hi,

I, Sir, am a noob, so to say.
Thanks for the reply, anyway. I´m sorry, if this is the wrong section. Perhaps, someone can move it to...whereever?

Well, after updating (just unpacking the ".rockbox" folder) to r15030-071007,
my nano crashes with silly warnings (eg. "Updating on empty Dir" or "Codec failure")
and briefly, nothing works, sometimes it won´t even boot. Thats why I downgraded to 13395 by just replacing the ".rockbox" folder with the old one. Well, would be great, if you could help...

But I remember things like 'never touch a runnning system'  :D

It may not fix your problem, but worth a shot.. update your bootloader.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.

Thanks, I tried that, it installs successfully, but it won´t work either. But thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

Two ideas:

Check if there is still a rockbox.ipod file in the root of your player. If so it'll probably be an old file and you should delete it.

If that doesn't help your Nano might be affected by a current "bug" which only hits on some Nanos (try to search the forums there is info in a thread called "latest rockbox not working on Nano" and another one - can't remember exactly how it is called).

running chkdsk /f on the Ipod might also help -- perhaps something is strange with the filesystem.

Thanks for all the good advice.

There is no Problem with the Filesystem. But What about my Firmware. I read about 'installing newest Firmware' everywhere. I didn´t do that...Well, at least I think so.  ???
The Latest Rockbox... Thread was a different thing, I have different Errors at different runtimes, but thanks anyway.
