I think you meant to post this for someone else's question as I have an iRiver H120. But thanks for the info.

What does "mounted" mean in terms of the device? I have have downloaded the patch but the Mac osx does not recognize it so I can open it to patch the firmware.
"Mountpoint" denotes the way the system itself accesses the file system of your player. The same applies for hard disc partitions too -- on windows they get a drive letter, on linux and OS X they get mounted by assigning a path to the partition / player. On OS X this is usually something like "/Volumes/Ipod" -- the exact naming depends on your setup, as the designated drive letter on windows depends on your setup.

Rockbox Utility needs to know this path to perform the installation. And fwpatcher is windows only.

(PS: wikipedia can tell you details on generic computer terms like mounting)

Ok, I did that and I see the .rockbox in the file of the iRiver but nothing happens, no Rockbox. Do I need to still do the patch? I can't get the patch to work per the directions as my operating system does not recognize it. Now that the .rockbox is in the file of the iRiver what do I need to do? I have read the directions but I am not clear as to what direction I should take.

you need to install both rockbox and the bootloader with rbutil.
(if you used small or complete installation, both is done).
After you installed the bootloader, you should do a "firmware upgarde" in the original iriver firmare.
It will use the bootloader rbutil copied to your device.

After that rockbox should work.

Ok, I finally got it! thanks.

One problem was that to find the file to browsw to was impossible unless I moved the window that came up on the screen unless I moved the screen before I tried a download as the window showing the loading of the files will not move and I could not get to the window under it to "browse" for the firmware that had to be patched.

The music isn't working correctly though. I am listening to KD Lang "Shadowland" and it keeps skipping a couple of cuts and then will pick up cut 6. Maybe the recording is bad, I don't know.

Ok, I redid one recording using "error correction" in my itunes and it works fine now.

I need to get some different software for doing the burning to files as I would like more options that the wav (too big) or mp3 at 320, which I don't think is as good as some other formats I have read about.

Thank you for the help.
