sansapatcher for linux amd64 fails

(1/2) > >>

scharkalvin:
I'm running debian etch for amd64.
I got this message trying to run the sansapatcher:

ken@Janus:~/rockbox$ ./sansapatcher_linux_amd64
./sansapatcher_linux_amd64: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.4' not found (requi                       red by ./sansapatcher_linux_amd64)

Guess I'm missing a library, but I don't know what debian package that might be in.

scharkalvin:
Well I downloaded the x86 version and tried running it. SURPRISE it ran!
I guess it's true that you CAN run x86 applications under amd64.
But I must have got lucky and had the right emulation libs installed.
(The Debian gods have smiled on me).

AlexP:
I'm glad it worked, but please stop double posting - this isn't the only thread you are doing it in.

Bagder:
The reason for the failure is that the executable was built to use a libc version that you obviously don't have...

scharkalvin:
I google search shows that a lot of applications seem to have this problem
on Debian.  I'm guessing that this version of glibc wasn't around very long
before being updated and never made it to a Debian package.

Sorry about the double posting, I couldn't find my original post at the time.
