md5Sum casuing install problem on HP-120
garyhfly:
Hi i'm new to Rockbox and to md5Sum!!
When Trying to auto install from the utility get the message "could not MD5Sum original firmware"
I have tried a manual install but although Rockbox appears in the root it does not run.
Unit runs fine using the Iriver firmware
Appreciate any suggestions
Thanks Guys
LambdaCalculus:
Did you follow the install instructions in the manual?
Also, what operating system are you using, and are you downloading the proper build for your device? There's a build for the older iHP-110/115 models, and the iHP-120/140 models.
AlexP:
Have you downloaded an official firmware from iriver for RBUtil to patch? Â If not, do so, if so, it sounds like it is corrupt, try redownloading it.

Thanks for the quick replies
I'm running in windows xp and have downloaded the correct version of Rockbox
- have also downloaded and installed (twice) an official firmware version (V163) from Iriver
but still getting the same problem
AlexP:
I'm pretty sure you need 1.65 or 1.66, not 1.63.
Edit: Â Hmm, apparently 1.63 is OK (http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/IriverBoot#Checksums), but I'd try 1.66 anyway, I know that works.
Edit 2: OK, I just tried both 1.63 and 1.66 (EU) and both patched perfectly. Admittedly I downloaded then from Rasher's site (http://www.rasher.dk/rockbox/iriver-firmwares/) as I couldn't be bothered to navigate the hell that is the iriver site.
