« on: October 03, 2007, 09:30:12 PM »
??? ??? ???Ok, Well, first of all im really sorry if this has been posted in the forums like a million times but i have been having a problem with doom. i have a 30 gig ipod video and i when i start rockdoom everythings fine. i have the shareware doom wad and the fredoom wad. whenever i try to start one it just comes up with a whole bunch of errors like "W_getnumforname: CRBROWN NOT FOUND"   and "R_texturenumforname: DW59" and i was wondering if anyones had this problem and if anyone can help me with it.

Writing everything in bold makes it much harder to read and heavily decreases the chance someone actually trying to help you. There is really no need to do this as people here can read. >:(

Those errors sound like actual doom engine initialisation errors. I suspect one of the .wad files may be corrupted.

If I were you, I'd re-download them all and start again.

Make sure that you have the files properly named.  Freedoom should be doomf.wad and doom shareware should be doom1.wad.  If you pick the wrong version of doom for the addon you will see those types of problems.  Rockdoom picks the version of doom it thinks is running based on the main doom WAD you choose.  If you pick the wrong one it will be looking for the wrong files within the WAD.  Same goes if you mismatch an addon with the wrong version of doom.

No, you don't need an add-on in order to play Doom.
