Database issues with Rockbox and iPod Nano 1G
« on: October 03, 2007, 06:08:00 AM »
Even after my previous post in the General thread I'm still having issues.

If I click on the DATABASE menu item it asks if I want to Initialize. I say YES and it spends half an hour or so doing the Initialization. I'm not sure exactly how long because I let it go while I was out since it was taking a long time.

The iPod rebooted itself and the DATABASE updated itself (1/9 to 9/9).
I created a playlist and it made /.root.m3u8 (I think it was).

I tried to get it to play but it didn't. I went into the DATABASE and it said the DB was not initialized again so I let it try again and it found 0 songs.  After some time I gave up and Reset the iPod and it loaded up Rockbox again.  Still no files were found.  I booted back into the Apple firmware and there were no songs found. I rebooted again and it could not start Rockbox. In fact, there was a message in the middle of the Rockbox splash screen "CLEARED".

I plugged the iPod into my PC and had a look and the directory structure was corrupt again (the same as mentioned in the General thread).
The next reboot showed Rockbox could not be found to be started, due to the corrupt filesystem (including the iPod's actual name) so I RESTORED my iPod again (as I did in the General thread yesterday).

I've since restored all my files and podcasts again and put Rockbox back on. At this stage I can play games on it but cannot ever play music.

Any suggestions?

The above thread has a file rockbox-test1.zip

It seems to be many times better than the latest Nano build for my iPod and things are working as the manual states and the above issues seem to be gone.

This is not a double post. I posted a reply to the other thread and mentioned in this one that most of my issues are fixed.
WOuld you rather I leave this open with no mention of a possible resolution?

That makes no sense  ???

What GodEater was saying is not to post multiple messages in a row. You can use the "modify" button on your messages to modify a message if you had posted something, but had a little extra to say.

This is an example... I came back five minutes after my original post, and I realized I wanted to say something else. The forum guidelines do state that double posting is not allowed, especially in such short spans of time.

Aha. I see what you mean.
Will make sure to not do that again.
I've been on many forums over my 15 years on the internet and run my own forum but am not used to any as strict as this one, I'm afraid.
