Rockbox corrupted my 1G Nano files and directories

Hey!

I installed Rockbox manually as the autoinstaller could not find an iPod even when I told it I had a 2Gb 1G Nano on F: drive.

One quick note: I haven't seen anywhere mentioned, but I'm guessing you have to reserve some space on the iPod and enable File mode for Rockbox? Or does it all load into firmware space somewhere?

I rebooted and RB started up fine. I looked around the menu and hit DATABASE. It said it found over 3,000 songs and started initializing the db with them.
It took a long time so I used the command to go back and let it do it's stuff in the background.
I looked around the menus and tried to start Pacman (Does that load into the same spot as the db?). It crashed saying it could not find some directory and RB said "PANIC!".

Rebooted the iPod and RB came up fine again. Rebooted to see how the dualboot works and that was fine.  Rebooted back to RB.

Went to the Database and it said there was none and asked to initialize. I said YES and it found 297 songs and said it was processing them or whatever it does. I let that go in the background while I looked around some more and found some things did not seem to work. I had done the full Manual installation so thought I'd look at some themes but could not select them nor browse to them.

Went back to the database and it was still going. Any news on how long it should take? half an hour for 300 songs or 5 mins or?
Rebooted again and the ROLO said it could not find Rockbox to start and suggested disk mode.
I restarted in disk mode but was not near a PC so couldn't do anything.

I restarted into the normal iPod firmware and it asked what language I wanted to use. I went in and looked at my playlist but it said there were no songs on the iPod (I had listened to them this morning before installing RB).
I went to the ABOUT screen and it said 0 songs and 1.8Gb iPod with 600 MB or so free.

Help? :)

Additional:

I just plugged in my iPod into my laptop and ran a DIR and found this:

--- Quote --- Directory of F:\

[COJTABPS]   [CALEND~0]   [NOTES]      [.rnckbox]   ROKT~0.     2U   [Contacts]
[Calendars]
               1 File(s)              0 bytes
               6 Dir(s)     726,462,464 bytes free
--- End quote ---

Please rename your thread with a descriptive title as required by our posting guidelines.

You should have a directory called .rockbox, not .rnckbox.  Something on your drive is corrupted.  I would run a chkdisk /f from the DOS prompt to fix any file system errors and then re-install a Rockbox build.

WauloK:
Rockbox changed the file names including the rnckbox filename above. I unzipped the zip file and copied the directory and subdirectories verbatim. The explanation above shows where it was working fine and then the files became corrupted, including file names and iPod files.

WauloK:
I have since used the RESTORE function of iTunes to restore my iPod and have reinstalled rockbox. I have yet to test either.
