Help with MPEG player

When i play a mpeg file on my iriver h10, only a small section of the video is displayed. (only the top left corner of the video.) it is like the player thinks the screen is larger. Is there anyway i can shrink it down so it fits on the screen?

And how have you converted it (if at all)?

You need to transcode it to the correct screen size for your player

Oooohhh... Now i see. I thought those encoding things were for converting different filetypes such as .wmv to .mpg
I feel like a fool  :P
