Transfer FLAC files to iPod Nano
« on: September 30, 2007, 05:27:05 PM »
I installed Rockbox to my ipod nano and everything went fine but the ml_ipod plugin of Winamp doesn't let me transfer FLAC files to the ipod.
How can I/what program should I use to transfer FLAC files to an ipod?

You simply drag and drop the files to the device using Explorer (or preferred file manager).

this is right ... but, is it actualy possible (and how this can be achieved)
: to sync ipod through media library without transcoding to lossy formats?

for example:

in ml_ipod config on the third tab [sync] we can see a "how to sync this ipod" and there a sync query :

"filename ENDS ".mp3" OR filename ENDS ".m4a" OR filename ENDS ".m4p" OR filename ENDS ".m4b" OR filename ENDS ".mp4" OR filename ENDS ".m4v""

i added  OR filename ENDS "flac" but flac's still don't want to go to ipod without trancoding...

any ideas ?

You really should be asking elsewhere. We can't provide support for software someone else wrote. If you need help with it, ask them.

you could always try microsofts sync toy if your using windows.
this just works on files as far as I know and not its exstensions.
It just compares them between source and destination to know what to sync.

I don't have an ipod, so this may not apply. In Winamp, instead of selecting ipod, is there a generic music player setup that might allow you to use it?

choodo, please try to use standard English spellings.  Slang makes it hard for others to understand you -- both people who use translation software and screen readers.

As for your attempts at getting .flac files onto your iPod -- what is the problem with dragging and dropping them from a file browser?  Or even using a copy or move command from the command line, for that matter?  I would think that most standard iPod-oriented methods will not work for you as they assume a particular format (that the Apple firmware supports) and write entries to the iTunesDB.  What you want is something that will synch files to a standard UMS drive.  But personally, I just use drag-n-drop.
