error in building the tools on debian etch

There is a small, but important difference between 'zip' and 'gzip' and 'bzip2'. Linux has used the latter two while windows the first. zip and gzip are similar enough that many unzip utilities will handle both. The true zip is not free and is covered by some patents while gzip and bzip2 are both free programs. Anyway, that is why I was confused about if I had zip installed, since in Linux some functions are provided by other programs. Turns out, there actually IS a zip and unzip utility for Linux.

And there has been for absolutely years. I remember using it in around 1991 on SunOS (same zip code base that Linux uses).
