[iPod 5G] Gapless not really working...

(1/2) > >>

cheeseman:
Well, I've just installed Rockbox and put my albums on the iPod in Disk Mode.
I have quite a few non-stop albums, and while most of them they played gaplessly on my iPod before,  Rockbox plays them with (very short, but noticeable) gaps.
I've tried removing ID3 tags, but that didn't help...
What could be the reason?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: After listening to more albums... Some of them do work, but some (which played properly before) don't.

GodEater:
Rockbox's gapless playback of MP3 files only works 100% accurately with files encoded with LAME. I assume since you're an ipod owner that you used iTunes to do your encoding ?

This FAQ provides some additional explanation of what GodEater said:  http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/IriverFAQ#Does_Rockbox_support_gapless_pla

And some encoding tools can be found here:

cheeseman:
Yup, the ones that don't play correctly were encoded in iTunes...
So, re-encoding is the only way?
