And to the original problem!

The Gigabeat firmware is located in a folder marked hidden and system of the hard drive, so by formatting it in I'm guessing you have removed the firmware.

So here is what you do:

I seriously don't know what possessed him to just e-mail me like that. And I know I didn't ask him to e-mail me; I thought common sense would dictate that he post his problem on the thread. Not many people like being e-mailed by complete strangers.

This seems a little out of hand for a small mistake on kekkuz part, not to mention unnecessary to bring it up twice.  A polite message explaining proper procedure would have been fine.

kekkuz, I have had other problems with a formatted/replaced hard drive, try using the system files that we give in the wiki here: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/GigabeatFXPort at the bottom of the page (GBSYSTEM.zip).  If that doesn't work there are some additional steps you may need to take and I can go through them with you.  Just make sure you post your status here so we can keep it available for other users that might run into the same problem in the future.

edit: I forgot to mention that BigBambi's pointer on the recovery procedure will be necessary to get the files on the gigabeat in the first place :).  Please post your status after following it though, because as I said, there are some additional steps that may help you if those directions do not work.
