Is it normal for the stock firmware to turn on when the unit is hooked up to USB. Also, I can not seem to get the LCD to turn off when the unit is hooked to USB (charging only)
The machine boots to sandisk firmware and LCD is lit.
I have tried to set LCD off after 15 seconds when hooked to USB and sleep after 5 minutes once LCD turns off, but this doesn't help. I think I did this first in the sandisk firmware and then also to the rockbox.
I have been able to use it, but I am concerned about leaving the LCD on always. The fact rockbox doesn't show when hooked to USB doesn't seem to effect things, but I wasn't sure this was normal and can't seem to find much in either manual or by searching on the forum.
Thanks for the help and I apologize if this is too simple and I should have been able to find the info on my own. I tried but wasn't successful.
EDIT: When I plug in the device and it is off, it will boot the sandisk software. Then usually it will "connect" and if it does, the LCD would stay on all the time. I have used the remove hardware applet which will disconnect it, but still the LCD is on. Sometimes if I physically disconnect it, let it boot, shut it off and then re attach, it will not connect at which point the LCD will turn off after the appropriate time.
I have found a work around to handle what I need. If I connect it while I have Rockbox booted, it will not connect, and it will allow the LCD to turn off. I do this when I need to recharge only.
If I have the unit off, it usually will connect after booting to the sandisk program allowing me to move files.
Using these I have been able to achieve what I want.
I still don't know if this is normal, or desirable, but at least I can recharge all night without leaving the LCD on.
