Oops, I'm really really sorry because I was the one who didn't read thoroughly (drew the conclusion about recovery mode too quickly, I only tried it once and didn't think about which button I had to held :-\ )
At least you could figure out what was going on with the helpful info and link to the sandisk site from skaos. Thanks for starting to gather chip information, the better place for it would probably be the wiki though.
P.S. I'll point someone with the power to put a warning on the frontpage to this thread.

Given that that you noble_rogue is the first user here with a c200 v2, can you check the photos of the regular c200 v1 and see if you can figure out a useful way to visually detect differences between v1 and v2?
Do you know if there's a firmware (mi4 + BL) available for the v2 anywhere?
Other than that, we really prefer actual photos of the circuits to better work out exactly what they are.
The SanDisk *-1024 ones are likely to be NAND flashes
The EMST is likely to be SDRAM
The other SanDisk is interesting, can it be NOR flash or is it a SanDisk-branded (PP-based?) soc?
skaos:
Anythingbutipod has just disassembled the Sansa Clip where the SoC is marked something like (there may be a few misprints, the resolution of the photos are a bit low):
Sandisk
20-82-00133-2
S734-691090
SDC-SA216-1
Taiwan
That's similar to the C200-V2 ... I don't know if that brings you any further. It could be interesting to see how the PP-based SoC in the Sansa View is marked.

Hi Bagder, I just ran down to my local Radio Shack to look for a Sansa c240, and I've noticed three visual differences between a "V1" and a "V2" c200 series on the packaging:
1) On the upper right corner of the packaging, there will be a little square with the capacity marked. Under that, it will say "Up to xxx Songs" for v1, and "xxx Songs MP3" for a V2.
2) The font on the back of the package is either the "Li'l Monsta" font on a V1, or a more generic font for V2.
3) The line "Supports Audible File Formats" will be present in the list of features for a V2.
If anyone goes to a store that displays c200s out on the floor, then inspect the packages until you can find a V1.

I updated the TargetStatus and SansaC200 port pages to give a little heads up on this, hopefully people will actually read it.
