Custom Backdrop in Theme

(1/1)

atomiccow:
Hi,

I want to use my own backdrop in a theme but all my themes except the default rockbox ones come with their own backdrop.  If I apply a backdrop for a theme I download, it gets reset to the original theme one every time I restart.  I tried going through the config file for the theme and removing the reference to its specific backdrop but the themes will still reset to their original backdrops.

The only way I've found to apply my own backdrops right now is to name them the same thing as the themes backdrop but this does not allow me to actually change backdrops without having to plug in my Ipod and rename a new backdrop.

Yotto:
This is a guess, but it's a pretty good one:

Modify the theme to remove the backdrop.  Then, change your theme to something else.  Then, change your theme back to the theme you just removed the backdrop from.

If that fails, then I don't know.  Your Rockbox doesn't work like my Rockbox :)

frause:
Save your custom backdrop in /.rockbox/backdrops and set it as backdrop in the file-context menu.

Alternatively put "backdrop: /.rockbox/backdrops/yourbackdrop.bmp" in /.rockbox/fixed.cfg to have Rockbox set the backdrop to your image at every boot. If you do this, you should probably put in a suitable foreground color too.

melancholydm:
Do This... in your player's drive navigate to .rockbox\themes.
open the cfg file of the theme you want to use with notepad/wordpad.
and then remove the line that says Backdrop: /.rockbox/backdrops/haaha.bmp
reload the theme and your set
