iPod 1stgen won't reboot
(1/1)
alastairm:
Hello
I've loaded rockbox onto my 1stgen iPod following the manual until I get the screen on my iPod:
Rockbox boot loader... hold MENU+SELECT to reboot...
I can now access the iPod as a disk from my Mac but every time I try to reboot the iPod I just get back to the screen mentioned above. Have I made a mistake in loading the software or is there something wrong with my iPod.
Additionally, I really want to use rockbox to access the music on my iPod so I can move it to my Mac. I take it the Database feature will enable me to do this or will I just simply have to trawl through the iPods, disorganised folders ::)
Cheers
Alastair

Are you referring to an Ipod 1G and not Mini / Nano 1G? Then this text is wrong as the reset sequence is slightly different on the pre-clickwheel Ipods. See http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61705 for details about the reset procedure.

Make sure you extracted the zip file to the root folder. You might want to try Rockbox Utility for this step -- you didn't give the complete error message, but I assume the bootloader can't find rockbox.ipod, which usually happens if you messed up extracting the build somehow.
