iPod 5.5g Line out noise w/Rockbox
«

I recently installed Rockbox on my 5.5g iPod.
I love the extra features it provides me.
My PIE car adapter arrived today (line out and +12v for charging).
I installed it, and much to my dismay Rockbox emits some very audible noise when using the line out (I did not have this problem using the headphone jack prior to the arrival of my car adapter).
At first I thought it was a problem with the iPod, but I switched to the Apple OS and the noise completely went away.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions?
Thanks.
Steve

Are you sure you're at the same volume level in both firmwares? Are you using any sound altering features in Rockbox (replaygain, equalizer, hardware EQ, bass, treble, etc?)

If I am using Line out, shouldn't the volume setting be Irrelevant? It's line level.
I am not using any sound altering features.

Is your car's line-out connected via patch or is it a radio transmitter?

It's connected via an aux input (Blitzsafe - FORD/AUX DMX V.1C OEM

).

I had this same issue.
Had my iPod plugged into the aux of my car stereo using an XtremeMac doc cable that also charges the unit.
Like the original user here, my Apple FW didn't have the same high pitched squeal.
Go to settings>general settings>system>battery>charge during USB connection
Change to "yes"
Got rid of it for me.

How have you narrowed the noise down to being a problem with the line out and not a problem with the power feed from your new adapter?

line out levels and not "set" but is the lower 20% of the full headphone volume on the 5.5 ipod.
so turn the volume all the way down and turn it up slowly to see if the noise starts at a specific level.
had the same problem in my friends car we found the line level was too loud . it was basicly amplifying quiet noise mixed with alternator whine. when you unplug the charging portion the noise goes away... right?
