Gameboy advance emulator
« on: September 21, 2007, 05:46:01 PM »
OK, just wanted to see something. I want to try and port the ipodlinux GBA emu (http://ipodlinux.org/Igpsp; which runs at about 80-90% speed now) to some of the Rockbox ports that could do that (e.g. iPod, Sansa). Is there already work being done on this and/or would anyone be willing to help?

Make sure that the source code is released under GPL.

awesome! someone wants to do the work themself instead of spamming and ordering the developers around. by the way, you url is http://ipodlinux.org/Igpsp not http://ipodlinux.org/Igpsp;  also, i looked around a bit and found that it is very buggy (extremely) and would like to know that this would take a LOT of work for it to get implemented. Rockbox is  highly polished unlike ipodlinux. The NES emulator is also being worked on but is taking a while because the people here (including me) tend to be perfectionists and don't want to muck up Rockbox like ipodlinux is mucked up. Cheers and good luck!

So I was poking around this forum looking for something like this and yes this is my first post... 8)
Anyway i think we should pick this subject back up because I know alot of people would love this (i know i would) and i want to help make these emulators work like iboy (i wouldn´t be much help because I barrely know how plugins work and everything).
So if anyone agrees with me let´s do something about it (i dont know if this has already been done or if zajacattack did it and im just making a fool out of myself  ;D).

I never heard another thing after this post.  I doubt any work was actually done.

Maybe an emulator already written in C would help like this one:
http://www.bestdownload.com/view.php?detail=369
(not sure if it works)
Just search other ones if you like.

It just seems like it would be easier to modify an existing emulator to fit into rockbox and then edit it to make it simpler and run faster. I think we need the code unless it's possible to unlink and decompile an .EXE. I'm not sure because of my little knowledge on these things so far.

This is what the first post proposes, and that emulator is probably easier to start with since it already runs on the Ipod.
