Cannot Record in Ipod 5.5 G (80 Gb)
domwebhost:
ITALK PRO would be one. However, Rockbox hasn't listed it as a useable dock connector recording device so it is sitting in a drawer collecting dust until someone figures out why.
Chronon:
No, that device is an iPod accessory. If you want to use it you will need a build that includes the accessory protocol patch. You can try out a test build in the Unsupported Builds section. Look for Accessory Protocol in the topic title.
There are places that sell dock connectors adapters that give access to the line in pins. Here's one: http://home.swipnet.se/ridax/connector.htm

I use a "XtremeMac MicroMemo" "IPV-MIC-00" device on the bottom of my iPod 5thGen Video with the current RockBox build and the device works GREAT for recording line-in from my FoH board mix. I found mine new for $30 on eBay, slapped it on the ass of my iPod, and line-in records perfectly clear. No hiss, no ticks, no weirdness. I have "Accessory Power" turned on in RockBox's system menu.

It also has a microphone that attaches, and supposedly can slap any 1/8" connector microphone into it, but I really haven't spent any time at all with it.
Chronon:
I should have indicated that the iTalk Pro wouldn't work at that time because that particular device expects to send and receive certain commands in order to function properly. Your accessory is listed as working since 2007. However, it's listed on IpodAccessories as needing retesting. Do you get volume control on the output now?
I also want to point out that support for a subset of the Apple accessory protocol is now included in builds for the 5g iPods, so the iTalk Pro may work properly now. There's also a patch for enabling it for 4g iPods on the patch tracker.
