Rockbox works great, but iPod now takes forever to mount.

(1/1)

zlapidus:
Just installed rockbox, and I really enjoy it. I noticed a strange problem on my machine, however. If I connect my ipod to my computer, it starts charging immediately, but it takes a long time (about a minute and a half) before it mounts and shows up on the desktop. This was not an issue prior to my installation of rockbox, with the original firmware.

Oddly enough - if I go to the terminal, and go to /Volumes/   my ipod shows up in the directory - however, it's not mounted on the desktop.

Am I choosing a strange setting, or is there anything I can change?

Thanks a lot, and I really appreciate the help.

I assume your ipod was previously HFS formatted (i.e. a MacPod) ?  If so, I get exactly the same problem on my iBook.  I've tried but failed to find a solution - Mac OS X just seems to have really poor FAT32 support.

But if anyone can suggest a solution, I would be happy to hear it.

I have the same problem on my mac at home. This did not happen with my 4G iPod on my PC at work, but does with my new 5G 30G iPod.

Not much of a problem in any case, as it never fails to mount in the end.

polygonal:
I have similar problem with my winpod on XP - so probably not just a problem with mac OS. But I can live with this little problem ;P

MU4L:
Yep, I've similiar symptoms on XP with my windoze 5.5G, but it's by no means prohibitive to the way it works, so it's more of a heads up than anything.
