280r problems "load image failed"
« on: September 17, 2007, 10:38:55 PM »
patched bootloader following instructions on http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/SansaE200RBootloaderPatching.  Then loaded rockbox following this guide. http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/SansaE200RInstallationFromLinux.   When I am finished it boots into rhapsody firmware.  refreshes database then says upgrading firmware.  It reboots and hang at "load image failed"  anyone got any suggestions.  I
have reset it back to factory and tried again thinking i missed something but it does not seem to work.

bootloader patching says to " verify that the screen on your device says something about a new bootloader."  All I see is "upgrade complete"  is this what it is supposed to say?

Does anyone know what part of the install is not working?  Either the bootloader patch or the install of rockbox?

The patching didn't work.  Try following the steps again, and if you still have problems, describe what you did in each step.

Holy CRAP I got it.  If anyone else runs into this problem here is whats up.  The instructions are written to use the ubuntu live cd.  you are ROOT when you run from that.  I run ubuntu  natively.  I was logged in as me and su - to run as root.  When you plug in the sansa your account mounts it.  Even though I was running mount /dev/sdg as root.  It was not mounted as root.  THIS MAKES A DIFFERENCE!  if you right click on the mounted disk on the desktop and unmount it.  then mount /dev/sdg ~/sansa/mnt it works just fine.
