Gigabeat S Stuck in Update Mode! Please Help!
« on: September 17, 2007, 06:02:32 PM »
I recently went to this site looking for progress on the Gigabeat S, and ended up putting my Gigabeat into recovery mode (by doing the left button + start button).

I have absolutely no idea how to get it back to normal. The reason I put it in recovery mode was to format the drive, but I have no idea how to update or get my old firmware back.

Any and all help would be immensely appreciated.

my gigabeat has the same problem
i have downloaded the V updater tool but it wont work

i connect the player and it downloads whatever it is it needs to download
then i disconnect the player and it reboots
i get a screen that says
"do not reset your device at this time. Please Wait"

then it reboots again and i get another screen that says
"firmware update required. Please wait"

the player reboots again and i get another screen that says
"Connect the portable media center to a PC"

and if i do that then the whole thing starts again
so what am i doing wrong here?

im sorry if these questions have been answered somewhere else already
i have honestly looked around and this was the closest thread to what i needed
its late and im tired so i might have missed it

anyway, thanks in advance

Please people, rockbox on the gigabeat S is not near to booting yet.  If you don't know what you are doing, don't mess around with it.

malephar:  All we have is on the wiki page.

This is not a general support site, it is for rockbox support only.  Hence I assumed you had been trying to get rockbox on the S.  If not, you should ask Toshiba for support.

All we know is here: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/GigabeatSInfo

well i asked here because this is the only place you can get a firmware update
toshiba have completely abandoned it and so have microsoft it seems
there is no such thing as toshiba support for the gigabeat s

i couldnt get a download anywhere but here
so i thought maybe that someone on here might have run into problems same as me

edit:
just tried it again for a laugh and it worked perfectly
profanity removed great stuff, zunepet is a legend
im sorry i cant repay the favour for you guys with sexy rockbox specific code

however i do know a thing or two about lawnmowers and guns, so if anyone is stuck with either of those things then let me know
