I need to charge my iPod, and its acting strange
« on: September 16, 2007, 01:57:09 PM »
Ok, usually when I plug my iPod in to charge, I'm on Rockbox, I hold Menu, while holding menu I insert the cord, wait about 5 seconds, then let go of menu. Doing this allows me to keep Rockbox running (not rebooting in Disk Mode) and charge.

However, I tried several times today on several cords, outlets, etc. When I go to charge it, I do the same thing I always do, but no matter what it shows a USB cord and resets into Disk Mode. I really want to avoid this. My battery is about 30% charged, so I don't think a low battery is causing this malfunction.

Help?

If it matters, I'm on an iPod with color display (iPod photo), 20GB

have you updated your build? There was a bug that resulted in the need to hold down the menu button longer but that got fixed recently.

Hi there. I'm new to RockBox.

I'm just wondering how do I tell that RockBox is charging my 5.5G Ipod? Is there an animation of some sort?

There should be a plug icon in the status bar in the main menu.

Oh right. Yes I do see that.
Thanks for the tip.

Also. Can I have the "Charge during USB connection" menu set to NO for it to charge? I'm not sure what I did, but now if I plug in the USB, it gets out of RockBox and gives me a black and white background saying "Do Not Disconnect".

That's the iPod's emergency disk mode.

IIRC you should hold MENU down when plugging it into USB, and have "Charge during USB connection" set to "YES".

What's the difference between setting to Yes and No? The MENU holding down works thanks, but I've got the setting set to NO. Not really sure what that means.
