Recording filenames
« on: September 15, 2007, 12:21:48 AM »
Hi,

My apologies if this has been discussed; I couldn't find any discussion by searching.

As I understand, Rockbox doesn't allow customized naming of files when recording. Files are automatically given long names based on the date and time. Has there been consideration of creating a way to customize names? That is, to have subsequent recordings named, say, Dave1, Dave2, etc., or by some other customizable scheme? Or is there an experimental build with an option like that?

I have an iRiver H340 and am using a Rockbox build from late August/early Sept 2007.

Thanks.

currently the code gives a name based on the recording source and date and time. I didn't know there was even any interest in having a custom name.

You know you can create multiple directories and easily set that directory as recording dir (just browse to it and long-press navi for the context menu)

Maybe this is a way to get structure in your recordings?
