ipod mini problems

I have a 2nd generation ipod mini.  I have rockbox, ipodlinux, and apple installed to triple boot.  This was working fine for a few weeks.  Yesterday the Ipod turned off while playing music.  I figured it the battery had run out.  When I got it home to charge there was no display coming on when it plugged it into my computer.  I run Ubuntu 7.04 and it did not recognize the ipod as a music player or a disk.  I booted into Windows and it does not recognize I have anything plugged into the usb port.  I have tried the reset process many times I do not hear the hard drive moving and nothing comes up on the display.  I have left it unplugged for 24 hours and plugged it in and still nothing.  If the battery had died wouldn't it work while it is plugged in?  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Did you try leaving it plugged in for a longer time?  It may be in a deeply discharged state where it can't wake up immediately.

You may need to manually reset it (even if there is no display) -- there are known issues with Apples firmware when the battery is really flat preventing the Ipod from starting.

It has now been plugged in for sixteen hours.  I tried to restart it while it was plugged in and nothing happened.  I unplugged it and tried to restart the ipod and the battery charging icon came up on the display, but it is frozen the battery graphic does not move and fill to show that it is charging.

Are you talking about something other than flipping the hold toggle and holding menu and select to reset the ipod?
