My e250 doesn't boot the Rockbox firmware
« on: September 14, 2007, 10:20:18 AM »
I followed the instructions carefully, I changed the USB mode in the device to MSC, then when the 2 drives of the device appeared on My Computer I could only enter one of them, the one that's named Sansa e250, it contained these folders: PHOTO, RECORD, VIDEO, tmp, and some other files.
By the way, when I plug-in the device in MSC mode I get this error window:

I extracted the Rockbox archive to this drive, so I had the ".rockbox" folder together with the other folders that I wrote before.
Then I activated the Sansa patcher and installed it, and then when I dissconnect the device it only refreshes the database and then nothing happenes, it still running with the original Sansa firmware.

I know I detailed too much but I wanted it to be perfectly clear so you could find more easily what I did wrong. I'm working with Win XP, by the way.

Thank you very much.  :)

Try using RBUtilQt: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/RockboxUtilityQt

If it still doesn't work, then come back and tell us what happened, and make note of any error messages you may come across.

First of all, thank you very much!
Second, for some reason, it doesn't find my Sansa:

The device was connected, I chose the right drive, and the device was in MSC mode.

It's definitely a vanilla 250, not a 250r ?

Could it have something to do with the application error I get when I plug-in the device in MSC mode?

That shouldn't matter - the device should still be available as a Mass Storage device.

You could always uninstall the sansaupdater if you think it's involved somehow.

This is what's written in "rockbox-info.txt" in the archive:

Target: e200
Target id: 23
Target define: -DSANSA_E200
Memory: 32
CPU: arm
Manufacturer: sandisk
Version: r14687-070913
Binary: rockbox.mi4
Binary size: 482304
Actual size: 481468
RAM usage: 1300956
gcc: arm-elf-gcc (GCC) 4.0.3
ld: GNU ld version 2.16.1
Host gcc: gcc (GCC) 4.0.3 (Ubuntu 4.0.3-1ubuntu5)
Host system: Linux

Is it really only for Linux? because, like I said before, I running Win XP.
Tnx!

Because it was compiled on Linux.  WinXP should work.

Do not use "tnx" in our forums. Read the guidelines before your next post, as you will be expected to follow them here. As well, do not double post.
