Windows Explorer Crashes after plugging in
(1/1)
Ortus:
Hey Folks
My device is a IPod Video G5
I've installed Rockbox a few weeks ago... no problem everything worked fine.
Today i thougt, well lets update rockbox. i've downloaded the new build, put it on the ipod, startet the ipod everything was good.
After that i've plugged the ipod in aggain, no prob. and plugged it off again^^
Now i had a prob with the database... al the songs were listet twice. so i runned disktidy. the plugin startet and runed for a litle while, but after a while (it was scanning in my musicfiles) it returnet a error...
oke, rebuildet the database. still the same. so i wanted to remove the databasefiles in the windows explorer manualy.
but everytime i plug my ipod in the windows explorer freezes. or it says that windows does not support that device. i've tried it on two diffrent pc's (at one it worked bevore) i've tried it with rockbox, in the disk mode and in the apple os.
Rockbox itself is running great.
How to fix that? Oo
Thanks for yout patience reading my novel^^
GodEater:
How about if you put your iPod into disk mode manually ?
Ortus:
i've already tried that.
the explorer still freezes.
tonight i have acsess to a mac. i think i go to try it there and reset my pod i've you have no other idea. hope that works :(
edit: just another detail.
about 3seconds after plugging in the explorer freezes. and just after plugging out it responds again.
GodEater:
Well if you're putting it into disk mode manually and this still happens, then it's nothing to do with Rockbox I'm afraid.

Your host software (i.e. explorer) freezeing has nothing to do with Rockbox anyway. Could be a broken filesystem -- maybe running chkdsk /f on the drive helps.
