orig ipod firmware on rockbox'd ipod vid

I don't know what trick I pulled off, when I turned on my ipod in the middle of a normal day, it goes to its original firmware. It would be awesome if I can do that by choice, only to play video, or for stubborn friends who can't figure out rockbox.  Any button I need to hold during boot, or was my encounter just a glitch?
