On a slow computer, it's gonna take a long time.  Video encoding is hard work.

Heh I unno about that, I used to be able to do a 700MB divx video to MPEG for VCD in less than 4 hours on my 500Mhz AMD K6 back in the day.

What is the speed of your machine?

Also If you have inneficient codecs installed that too will cause the encode time to increase.

WinFF uses a separate ffmpeg binary, it really doesn't matter what other codecs you have installed because it doesn't use them.

Please, don't try to offer random advice without becoming acquainted with the specific situation, it just adds to the confusion.

Please do not post the same thing in two places.  I have removed your other identical topic.

Did you use the provided xml settings preset file for WinFF?

There is no way to happily view movies on your nano other than using native MPEG-1 or 2 videos or converting other types to MPEG-2

"ipod linux 4:3" is not one of the options.  Choose the preset for the Nano.

Then you didn't properly install the .xml file from the wiki.
