Nano won't be detected on pc

Hi,

I guess I messed up the installation on my nano. I copied to firmware files into root Ipod_control, not just straith to the device (F:\, but F:\Ipod_control).

I have a broken display, i cant's see what's on it, only the background light works. After installation, ipod won't start properly. It only lights up and stays like that, i tried reseting, with no effect. When i plug it into my winXP, it will not be detected by win, neither by the bootloader, only the display light goes on and off every 3 seconds.
I tried booting the original firmware with the hold button function, but did not help either. Only the display stays lighten up, does not go on and off when plugged.

Is there a way to get it work at all? Either with the rockbox or the original firmware.

thanks in advance,
Samo

If only the backlight changes state it doesn't sound like you have reset your unit properly.  You should see a black and white Apple logo, first without the backlight and later with the backlight on if you have correctly reset it.

Reset the iPod and immediately hold Select + Play.  This should put you into Disk Mode.  Then you can unzip the firmware into the correct location.

He said he has a broken display ;)

I guess you are stuck at the bootloader displaying "rockbox.ipod not found" and telling you to go to disc mode for fixing the issue.

D'oh!   Now that's embarrassing.    ::)

Love you all guys!  ;)
Thanks alot!!

It works now, but it a bit complicated to move around in the menu without display, only with the voice plugin.
