Hacking Sansa Express
« on: September 10, 2007, 03:51:33 PM »
I have one of these and love it, only one problem. It will not support over 2gb of Micro SD in the slot and I have a 4gb I want to use.

I am pretty sure this is a software limit imposed by Sandisk as Rockbox proves that using it on the e200 series can get past that limit.

Anyone want to help me figure out how to hack the existing firmware to remove the limit? I need to be able to play DRM music so hacking the existing firmware is the only current option.

Thanks!

Hah, forget it. Rockbox is a complete firmware, not a mere patch

No, your only option for DRM music on that 4GB card in a SanDisk player is to buy one that supports it...

True, I was just hoping there was some expert out there that knew the Sansa firmware and could open it up and make the change. I'm no genius but I know there are many out there that are.

Typically in Rockbox, we do not care so much about the OF and just focus on Rockbox alone.  We sometimes dive into disassemblies of the OF to figure out how things are initialized and such, but typically do not go into great depth to understand the OF.

Not a problem, completely understandable. Take care.
