my ipod is a gonner?

1st gen 2gb
installation went fine
i went to application, games tried to play something

got undefined instruction at 01FE169A

stuck there, can't turn off, even when i attach USB cable...

hmm should i just let the battery run out? or just throw it in the trash already

Hold MENU and SELECT.  This is the hardware reboot key combination.

Actually, for older models I found these instructions on Apple's site:

To reset iPod, iPod (scroll wheel), iPod (touch wheel), and iPod (dock connector)

1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons until the Apple/iPod logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

I believe this applies to generations 1 - 3.

I guess you are referring to the Ipod Nano 1st Gen, not the Ipod 1st Gen? There is a huge difference between those (and I think the 1st Gen was never available as 2GB version).

Good catch, bluebrother.  I'm nowhere near as familiar with the earlier models of iPod.
