Ipod 60 gig problem

I have already read and found out what i did wrong( i didnt put the .rockbox files in my ipod)
but the thing is that i cant connect it to my computer. and i cant turn it off it just keeps the error cant load rockbox screen what should i do?

Put it into Disk Mode and transfer the files to your player.

how long do you have to hold select+play cause when i try nothing on the screen changes =/ sorry i really have no idea about this
