ok, im new to all this so im a NOOB :-[, I was wondering what programs i need and what I should do to put rockbox on my sandisk sansa e260r. I heard that you need linux to put it on it, but I just dont know if i really need it. (im running windows. XP). and I dont know what files to download from this website. ???
So question 1: Do I have to be running linux? (if so which is easiest)
question 2: what files do I download from this website?
question 3: how do I get it on my sansa?
question 4: Is there lotts of bugs with the e200r versions of rockbox?
Thanks,
NOOBY

Most of your questions are answered here:

You may also find the manual useful - see the link on the left side of every page on this website.
scorche:
The manual is useful for many things regarding how Rockbox works, but just to make things clearer, please follow the SansaE200RInstallation wiki page and not the manual for installation instructions.

1. Yes. Ubuntu is usually one of the easiest - http://ubuntu.com
2. Any files mentioned in the wiki article mentioned above. There's an auto installer that's in development that will make it easier, if you can wait a few more days. I have a copy of the installer, but I'm not sure if it's meant to be released yet.
3. Before you can patch the bootloader, you need to extract the rockbox zip file to the root of your Sansa, so /.rockbox is a valid directory. In addition, you need to save a copy of the Rhapsody firmware into the SYSTEM directory, as OF.mi4. Let me know if you have trouble with this.
4. Not really. There may be bugs with patching the bootloader, but other than that, it uses the same build that's used for the e200, which has been around for quite a while.

ok Im downloading all of it now but i have a problem, when I open this (http://download.rockbox.org/bootloader/sandisk-sansa/e200R/pp5022.mi4) I get a page full of just encrypted stuff. not a download like it says for me to do. Also when it says to place the file in the root of the sansa were is that?
