All Folders suddenly renamed ...

(1/1)

mien:
... I have a strange problem with newer versions of rockbox.
I tried these 2 builts: 2007-08-12-1517 and 2007-09-05-r14616
on an ipod 4G greyscale.

What happens is:

The ipod works normally for some days.
Then after some days, I listen to music, then suddenly the playback stops with an error message
like "no codec found" .. when i browse through the .rockbox directory
all filenames have been renamed - names like CODEPE~1, fonts$, lengs$ $, _PLAYL~6. $ ...
(so of course no codec can be found!)

The first time also all apple firmware folders were also renamed (i had to reset the ipod),
the second time only the folders inside the -rockbox directory.

what can I do?
Is it a known problem?

thanks,
mien

Sounds like your computer is mangling the names of the files with some kind of disk check. What OS are you using?

Rockbox itself will not change the file names.

... I don't think so. It does not happen when the ipod is connected to the computer. It happens suddenly when using the ipod, while listening to music.
The last time is resetted the ipod, put rockbox on it and some music, the ipod worked fine for some days (in this time I did not connect it to the computer again) and then .... (see above).

However, I'm using Windows XP.

Mad Cow:
Your filesystem probably has errors. If you're in windows, run chkdsk.
