USB Support
« on: September 08, 2007, 04:38:18 PM »
Are you working on usb support for rockbox? On my sansa, dualbooting rhapsody firmware doesnt work, so the only way to use usb is just to use recovery and update to rhapsody firmware, then use usb. This is tedius, becuase it takes a bit of time. Thanks.

Dual-booting should work fine.

Have you downloaded the original mi4 file containing the Sansa firmware for the e200r, renamed it to "of.mi4" and put it in the System folder?

If so, what exactly happens when you try and start it?

EDIT: I've just read the other reports of Rockbox's failure to dual-boot into the Rhapsody OF.  So it seems that needs work as well....

Ill try the e200 firmware instead of rhapsody firmware...
EDIT: Sandisk does not have the e200 firmware readily downloadable. Do you know where I can get e200 firmware? Another thing, you can boot firmware in the rockbox file explorer, it boots rockbox.mi4, but when OF.mi4 is booted, the screen goes crazy.

EDIT: Nope, e200 firmware does not work on e200r.

Then you're doing it wrong.  I can boot both the Rhapsody firmware and e200 firmware on my Sansa (after renaming one to OF.mi4.)  What exactly did you try to do?

Ill try that. I just put it into the recovery directory. That's why it didn't work....

EDIT: Is your player physically an e200r model?

Mine is an e200R and it works just fine.  This was in the installation directions as well, and they mention nothing about putting it into the recovery directory.

Well, mine tries and fails, only causing the screen to slowly fade to red, then white. It says it finds the firmware but does not start. That's when the screen starts fading. Do you need a video to believe me? I will make one.

Well, as I said, you don't seem to be doing it right then.  Redownload the Rhapsody MI4 file and put it on your Sansa, describing in detail, all steps.  Download links, file names, file locations, etc., are considered detail.

Really? I read that other people are having my same problem....
Ok, I downloaded the rhapsody firmware from sandisk.com, renamed it to OF.mi4, put it in the system directory. What am I missing.

What file, exactly, did you download?

The instructions in the wiki don't say to download a file from Sandisk.com...

It was the original firmware for the sansa, I thought it was the same thing only newer that the one in the instructions. I just hate constantly switching between firmwares. It takes a long time. Longer than I like.
