bootloader error
« on: September 07, 2007, 09:53:00 PM »
I have a 4th Generation Ipod Color that uses a USB cable. I followed the directions in the manual and downloaded the bootloader. However this is when the trouble started. When running the bootloader and pressing "i" and then "enter", the application would run; after about 10 seconds or so an error would come up reading:

[Info] Using internal bootloader - 49629 bytes
[Info] Moving images to create room for new firmware
Error reading from disk: The request could not be preformed because of an I/O device error.
[ERR] Write Failed
: No Error
[ERR] Image movement failed.
[ERR] --install failed.

Did I do something wrong? I retried the bootloader and got the same error. If you could please help in determining in what is wrong, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank You.

The text "The request could not be preformed because of an I/O device error." is an error message from Windows - telling you that it couldn't read or write from/to your ipod.

Try using a different USB port on your computer, or if you're using a hub or extension cable, then connect directly from your ipod to the computer instead.  If you can, try a different USB cable.

Alright, I'll try that.
