I really need help with my sansa! I tried everything to make it work, but it is almost hopeless! Is there any way to completely restore the entire system. Thanks.

To be more specific, I already tried the e200tool on linux, and it did do the bootloader thing. Currently it goes to the sansa logo screen and stays there. It's frozen there.

So what part of "Wait till there's an easy method to use to do the install" did you not understand ?

Please be a lot more specific what happens and describe with all details exactly what you're doing.

Im relieved that my sansa is now responding, but not booting firmware. It says cannot init main image, because I had to use e250r bootloader instead of e260r. I need an e260r bootloader to fix it. Will it fix that, using e200tool?

New details: I was doing the bootloader patching, when it finally patched, it started up saying things i cant remember at the top, but at the bottom, it said 'cannot find rockbox .mi4. I could not put it on since it would not go into usb mode. When i plugged it in to see what happens (not recovery mode), it said it found rhapsody firmware, but then the screen started to fade white around the edges, then it spread all over the screen. I turned it off and eventually loaded e250r bootloader and firmware, which doesn't work on e260r. Im glad it's not totally dead. Is there a way just to simply reset it, such as opening the sansa and removing an internal battery or something? Thanks. If you find an e260r bootloader, tell me. Thanks again.

Allow me to say this:
Please be a lot more specific what happens and describe with all details exactly what you're doing.
We can't help you if you just keep rambling on.

never mind now, all I need is the sansa e260r bootloader and that's it. Ill put it on and it will work. Right? It works to the point where it now accepts firmware updates and formatting commands in recovery mode. Won't it work? Please?

The installation description works fine, no matter what R model you have as the bootloader is identical. So if you followed the instruction, I'm quite sure you already have the bootloaders (the rockbox one, the original sansa one as well as the binary-patched one).
And no, I don't know if that's the only thing missing since I don't understand your situation.

There is no "e260r" bootloader, there is one bootloader for the whole e200r series, because they're all exactly the same but with different amounts of storage.
Please, if you come to experts for help, assume that they really are experts and answer their questions.

Specifics:
1. Followed Bootloader Patching Instructions for Linux (Used Ubuntu)
2. Applied Bootloader Patch Using e200tool
3. Failed
4. Randomly messed with things
5. Bricked it
6. Fixed it a little
7. Now looking for an e260r bootloader
*********Im just trying to restore it back to rhapsody firmware*************
ill put rockbox on only when a safer method is developed (if my sansa ever gets fixed)

All im getting with anything is a "cannot init main image"
can you give me a legitamate bootloader then? an "authentic" one?
if you can't, that's ok. Ill just return it to best buy and say it was defective. unless they know how to check for stuff like that....

I just want to know how I can just restore my player to working condition, keeping in mind that the bootloader is no good, as well as the firmware. is there a preloader mode i need to go into or something?

This is what you should do:
enter manufacture mode
recover the vanilla e200 bootloader
when that starts, you press REC so that the bootloader goes into recovery mode
in recovery mode, you put the SanDisk bootloader of choice on your player, we recommend the binary-patched one. Do note that you need to rename it as the instructions tell you.
put your mi4 of choice on the disk as well
disconnect
smile
donate to the rockbox fund

What are the 'side effects' of being completely bricked?
