As well, it seems that psyche08 should have been able to restart into the Apple firmware by holding Menu + Select and then flicking the Hold switch when the LCD blanks.  His only problem as far as the Rockbox bootloader was concerned was that he had no FAT32 partition containing the proper files.  But an intact Apple firmware should still have been located on the "Empty" partition.

Oh well. . .

I am in the exact same situation. I have tried many times to get the iPod to go into disk mode. I can get it to reboot but no luck after that.

I have tried the SELECT+PLAY buttons, the HOLD while rebooting method. No luck so far. It keeps coming back to the same screen:

"Rockbox boot loader
version: 1.1
IPOD version : 0x000C0005
SST55LD019k-45-C-MWE
No partition found
Hold MENU+SELECT to reboot
then SELECT+PLAY for disk mode"

Forgot to mention that I am working from OSX, and don't have easy access to a PC.

Did you convert your iPod to a Windows iPod like the instructions say you have to?

i try many times,it doesn't work
What does not work? Didn't the Ipod show up as drive? As I said earlier, if you hose your partition table the Ipod may not show up as drive (because of the broken partition table). It WILL show up as removeable disc to the PC (on windows, check the "Disc management" snapin from Computer Management).

What generation ipod do you have? It's possible that's the wrong key combination.

If it *is* the right combination, it simply means you're not doing it quickly enough after the reset.

Tried everything that everyone suggested to you? This problem has a simple solution that doesn't require you to send your iPod back to Apple. Everyone here has presented you with possible solutions.

So you mean to say that all the solutions presented don't work at all?
