Found a bug

if i mess with the equalizer on my sansa and play music the volume takes longer ex Iturn the wheel all the way up count 1.... count 2..... finally full blast. it stays low for a good 2 seconds after i adjust the volume

Well, it's kind of hard to know what the problem is without more info, but if he has lag with the regular volume control then that's really strange, that is a hardware feature and should be changing instantaneously, if he means that there is a lag when changing the eq settings then that's more of an architectural limitation of rockbox the playback engine is not designed for low latency, it has a low latency mode though which is used for example when changing sound settings but there is still a delay that is easily heard.

I used to have a bit of lag in my Sansa on the default firmware, but it seems that it's now gone in Rockbox actually, even with my custom EQ settings...were you having the problem on the default firmware as well?

yes after adjusting the equalizer i had lag in the volume control i tried reinstalling but when i do adjustments in graphical eq it makes lag.

Did it do it before you put Rockbox on it? Maybe it's not Rockbox's fault but maybe your Sansa's fault. Maybe it's faulty.

Speaking of EQ settings is there somewhere on the Rockbox site that has downloadable EQ settings made by users or anywhere for that matter?
