Are you sure these are the r vertion and not a remake? Your tone sound like you just put on rockbox like nothing  :-\

He said he has two SanDisk Sansa e250R digital audio players, both running Rockbox.  I'm not sure what a remake would be considered...

Can't we just (or at least me) ask them for it. Or is this because they saw the sansa e200 being themed, rockboxed and such and they wanted to stop people from moding there fimware?! (just like xbox and nintendo updates it's fimware to block mods systems to work)
If Sandisk was planning to give away the signature, they wouldn't have included a signature check in their bootloader.

I have a sansa '280R', which is not a R.  However on  the back it says rhapsody, and that the model is 280R.  I think that it is just a OEM-ed vanilla e280 which has been rebranded.  Apparently, there are many people who have gotten the same model, which is only a 'faked' Rhapsody model.  These models don't have the rockbox installation problems, but rather, are identical to a vanilla in all ways except the logo on the back, as far as I can tell.

There's nothing stopping you asking. But I will eat my shoes if they turn round and say "sure, here it is".

If I were to get rockbox and and I patched the bootloader how would I get it back to a normal bootloader?

Please don't double post.  Use the edit button.

You would get back to a "normal" bootloader by simply patching the "normal" bootloader back over it.  However, I don't see why anyone would want to do this, as it has no ill effects on the OF and to get your device back to basically the original state, you just re-install the OF's mi4 over the Rockbox mi4.

If you wanted to return your sansa or if future updates (for the sansa fimware) would ask for the bottloader to be how it was.?

The binary patch of the original bootloader is hardly anything any service engineer ever is gonna notice, or in fact, even be capable of checking.

If we deleted the bootloader we would replace it and we could have rockbox?

Can you at least wait until the solution is presented? Deleting an entire bootloader will simply render your player useless, since it won't know what to boot or where to look for what it needs.

Shane, this is getting silly now.  The Rockbox developers know what they are doing.  They know the problems, they know what can't be done and they have some good ideas for making the install process safer and easier.

Please please please just wait.  I promise it'll be announced when it is done.
